Resilience, for me, isn’t about never struggling. It’s about deciding that the struggle has a purpose, then finding a way to keep going when things get difficult.

I’ve learned that doing hard things changes you. It shows you what you’re capable of, but it also teaches you humility. You discover that courage doesn’t always feel like confidence. Sometimes it’s simply taking the next step when you’re tired, uncomfortable or unsure.

I’m not particularly great at any one thing. I’m not the strongest or the fastest. But I am prepared to suffer and I’m not too bad at that. I can keep showing up, keep trying and keep moving forward when the easy option is to stop.

That doesn’t mean chasing discomfort for its own sake. The hard thing needs to mean something. Purpose is the driver. It might be serving others, supporting a cause, keeping a promise or showing someone else what’s possible. When you know why you started, you have something to return to when motivation disappears.

Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable is a useful way to live. It helps you meet challenges with less fear and more curiosity. You stop waiting until you feel ready and start learning as you go.

Resilience isn’t a gift reserved for a certain type of person. It’s built through choices: to try, to adapt, to ask for help and, when necessary, to begin again. You don’t have to be exceptional at everything. Sometimes you just need a reason that matters enough to keep going.
